Skyros is an island whose history extends far into the mythological era where there are the first signs and instructions.
Theseus, Lykomidis, Axill and Neoptolemus are persons of mythology, which are inseparably connected with the history of the island.
The Neolithic period, the classical period, the Roman and subsequently the Ottoman domination to piratical invasions, all this has shaped the island, a living room with archaic roots, which still live in traditional customs and practices.
In the two museums on the island, Folklore and Archaeological Museum, there are many documents and monuments of this important past.
Skyros is the largest island of the Northern Sporades island complex and is characterized by a unique landscape feature. Of all the beaches of the island offer some very distinct aesthetic beauty. On the north side there is the beach of Atsitsa, Agalipa, which is accessible only by boat, Agios Petros, Gyrismata and Pefkos. The south side is waiting for and Kolymbada with the long beach of Kalamitsa.
The crystal clear water, the clean and translucent sea bottom in connection with the beauty of the scenery entice the visitor to feel at one with the splendor of creation which spreads before him.
