Positive: The house was very comfortable and clean. It felt spacious. The kitchen was well equipped apart from the lack of an oven.The beds were comfortable, and the bedding was very nice.The internal pictures are a true representation. It was very close to the town centre, which really came alive on market day on Tuesday. A bottle of Saumur rose was a lovely welcome gift. Jeanine, the host ( not owner), was very responsive, and one minor issue got immediate attention. Also, we had an EV, and charging in Lidl was so convenient and very cheap!
Negative: I specifically chose the house for a couple of reasons. It had outside space, and it was close to a small town with all the facilities you'd need. The outside space was very scruffy and uninviting. ( see pictures ). There were no pictures in the house details, and this should have been an indication. We'd normally use the space to eat outside, etc, but we never used it at all. I don't think it would take much to transform it. Secondly the town was very disappointing. The majority of bars/ cafes/ restaurants were closed or open irregularly and not when advertised. Places that I'd researched that had served food previously were no longer doing so. Both boulangeries were closed. It could be due the time of year and French people taking their holidays.Thank goodness for Lidl! It has spoilt our affection for France as a holiday destination. There was no toilet upstairs, but the washing machine was up there. I also think it needs to be made clear that the stair case makes the house unsuitable for small children as it was very steep.
